Renewing Your License

To renew a 5-year professional license, educators in the state of Ohio are required to complete 18 continuing education credits (CEUs) or the equivilant (see Professional Development Conversion Chart for equivilant credits) during the lifetime of the license they wish to renew. CEUs must be approved by Mapleton LPDC and must met the requirements set by Mapleton LPDC.

The State Board of Education of Ohio’s online application system opens on November 1 for renewal of educator licenses that expire June 30 of the following year. Educators who have met renewal requirements can apply for a renewal beginning November 1 each year. License renewal is completed through the OH|ID portal using the CORE License System. Those who hold an active Ohio educator license, certificate or permit must submit FBI background checks every five years. Applicants living outside of Ohio also need to submit BCI background checks. See Tricia Piper in the Superintendent’s Office to complete your background check.
