It has been a joy to step into the role of principal at Mapleton Elementary, and I am honored to serve our students, staff, and families. Our school is a place where learning, growth, and community come together, and I look forward to continuing to support and celebrate the success of our students.
At Mapleton, we are committed to strengthening our focus on math and literacy. We have aligned our instructional practices with the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy, ensuring that every child receives research-based support to build strong reading skills. To further personalize learning, we have implemented a 30-minute intervention block called WIN Time (What I Need), where students receive targeted intervention or enrichment based on their individual needs. Our partnership with Ashland University has also provided valuable literacy interventions for struggling readers, further reinforcing our commitment to student success.
Beyond academics, we are also enhancing our students' school experience in meaningful ways. We are revitalizing our playground through grant funding to create a safe, engaging space for all students. We are also growing our STEM opportunities at Mapleton, including our elementary robotics program and continued expansion of STEM initiatives that inspire creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. I am excited for the future of Mapleton Elementary and deeply appreciate the partnership of our families and community. Together, we will continue to find new ways to support and empower our students.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Mrs. Swanson
