I feel very fortunate that I was given the opportunity to dive into a leadership role at Mapleton Elementary. The positive energy and momentum that this staff has built up is felt by all the minute you walk in the doors. It is their dedication to the students that creates a great learning environment resulting in high student achievement.
With our main focus being on literacy, we will continue making positive changes to better serve our students. In the 2022-2023 school year, Kindergarten through Second grade will be implementing a new curriculum that is very content rich with Science and Social Studies topics. Interventions, practice and enrichment activities will be skills-based and driven from specific data for all students each school day. The Literacy Team will recommence with teachers, offering their support and wealth of knowledge to ensure teachers and students alike reach their highest potential.
In addition, we are happy to be working with Ashland University to welcome Math Tutors into our building. This will help dedicate more time to math interventions to build a strong foundation of skills.
To support the whole child, we offer many non-academic supports and activities within the building. The foundation of these supports are driven by our Mighty Mountie Rules and Character Words of the Month. These are character traits in which we hope each student will carry with them into their future endeavors.
