Important Update

Posted Date: 8/29/25 (3:38 PM)

Dear Mapleton Families,

This morning, several Mapleton Middle School students experienced symptoms including headache, nausea, and dizziness. Out of an abundance of caution, both Mapleton Middle School and Mapleton High School were evacuated to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

Emergency personnel from the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio State Highway Patrol, first responders from Ashland and surrounding counties, the Ashland County Emergency Management Agency, and the Ashland County Health Department responded immediately and assessed the situation.

At this time, there are limited details available. We will share additional information with families as soon as it becomes available.

Building Access: Both school buildings have been cleared for students to pick up personal belongings. Students may enter through either the middle school or high school main entrance until 6:00 PM tonight, August 29th.

Athletics Update: The football game at Wellington will continue as scheduled.

We thank our students, staff, families, and first responders for their cooperation and support during today’s emergency. Please know that the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority.

Sincerely,
Scott Smith
Superintendent
